DIY: Adorable Vases For Pennies!

Okay, Okay, maybe not pennies, but certainly very little dollars! Under 10 to be exact!

Our last post we made those cute little hanging trays and I said we would be making something to match them. Meet that something:

How did we make them you ask, very VERY simply.

1st- We started off with the following items:

Vases, Candle Holders, and Flowers- $1 ea at The Dollar Store. I also picked up a pink and blue bottle of paint from HB. The cream paint and brush I had left over from when I painted the trays. I also picked up a bottle of Welding Glue. Any brand will do, just make sure it will bond glass.

Do these look familiar? This is the left over scrap paper I had from the trays.

2nd- First, I started by painting all of the vases. I choose to paint them all different colors that corresponded with the scrap paper. Another adorable way, would be to paint them all in the same color family just different hues. Almost like an ombre look!

3rd- Once the vases were dry, I took the welding glue and placed it on the candlestick holder and vase.
Like so:

After I placed the vase on the candle holder, I let it dry over night before I began touching it to make sure it was glued on tight!
4th- Once everything was dried, it was time to play with the scrapbook paper. I decided to make flowers out of them. You could easily make anything or refer back to our picture frame post for ideas.

I cut out a square in the paper and then folded it twice. Then, I cut out hearts, just like in elementary school, and out came four petals for my flower! I glued them together with rubber cement and cut out a little circle from another paper to create a middle of the flower and make sure they were all securely glued to one another. Once the flowers were dried, I used the welding glue to glue them to the vases.

Since these are actual vases, you could easily put real flowers in them as well! Just be careful so as to not get the vases wet and rub the paint off.

How cute would it be to hang these above the matching vases on a shelf? Love!
