DIY: Dollar Store Decor

Hello fabulous ladies!! So recently, I made a trip on over to the dollar store, and boy do I have some FAB decor ideas for little dollars!

First up, I made these cute little items for about $5!

How ADORABLE would this be hung above a shelf? Or used for a candle plate?

Now, how did I made them, you ask. Well, it was VERY EASY. First off I start with the following items:

Platters each $1- Dollar Store, 3 pieces of scrapbook paper (still 50% off at HB) $1.20 for all 3 pieces

I also bought the cream paint from HB 66 cents. The rubber cement and brush I had left over from my last project.

1st- I started off by painting the platters.

Make sure to paint down into the actual tray. That way, if your scrap paper is short at all, you won't see the plastic platter.

After I painted them all, I waited over night for them to dry. In all reality they dried in about an hour.

2nd- Then I turned each scrapbook paper over and used a pencil to trace around the edges of each platter.
You have to sort of  lay the pencil on its side and hold the platter down firm in the middle while tracing around the inside edges.

3rd- I cut the paper around the traced edges and added rubber cement to the white side of the scrap paper. Then, glued them on the inside of the platter.

Make sure to cover the entire thing COMPLETELY. Edges and all.

4th- VOILA

I think these turned out so cute! There are a million endless possibilities to do with these platters. Using them in a babies room and spelling cute little sayings or names on them would be adorable as well!
