Fall 2013 Trends
I've spent my morning researching and reading all about this fall's fashion trends and things to watch for as the dog days of summer approach quickly. Remember last year? We saw a lot deep colors - teal, oxblood, deep purple, dark dark dark. This fall, designers to the tune of Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, Chloe, Prada, Chanel, and Burberry all seem to agree on a few things:
1.) I am so very excited to inform you all that my (perhaps) favorite trend will only continue into the fall. Color-blocking is, in my opinion, one of the easiest ways to put an outfit together using different pieces from all over your closet. Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Prada all suggest that we venture away from using a neon as our primary choice for interest color. Instead, try sticking to neutrals and vamping them up a bit by going one hue or tone brighter or deeper (depending). Seen in these photos, we notice the ever-classic "black and white" color block but worn with navy, camel, and white; we see neutral white and tan with the perfect amount of pink, and finally we see gray and purple with an AWESOME punch of orange. Be exciting!
2.) The "black" for this fall appears to be grey! "Grey Matter" is shown in this photo in a variety of hues. I adore grey and think it is one of the most universal shades of color to wear. I am also pleased to see that a variety of shades made their way onto the runway - personally, I am quite partial to the iridescent, slate like shades of grey. Want to combine two trends? Replace the black from your color-block with grey...throw in some deep purple and some bright lemon and walk out in style!
3.) I feel like most women will be happy to see that the ever-amazing "chic sweatshirt" will be here for fall 2013. We will see a lot of screen printed, dolman and wide cut sweatshirts up and down our streets, I do believe. I am partial to the over-sized fit with a pair of tight tight tight black skinny jeans (or jeggings!) and some heeled ankle boots. Who says you can't be comfy AND look fabulous.
