Beat the Winter Skin!

South Dakota: Land of Ridiculous Wind Chills

I have combination skin that changes just about as much as the weather does here in the Northern plains. One day it's terribly dry and the next my t-zone is so oily I'm carrying around my powder in my front jeans pocket.

Don't let yourself forget about how important it is to take care of your skin over the dry and freezing winter months!

Here are some easy tips that help me get through it all:

1. STAY HYDRATED!: This is the number one tip you'll find anywhere you look in regards to skincare. Water is your best friend when it comes to that radiance. Although I go for the warm hot cocoa or white mocha more often than not, remember how important it is to give your body the water it needs - each and every day.
2. Don't go to bed with makeup on: Leaving makeup on your skin overnight will actually aid in the drying of your face and neck. Leaving product on will keep your skin from breathing and your beauty sleep will lose it's effect.
3. Moisturize: Give your skin the lotion it needs TWICE a day. Once when you wake up and wash your face and then again at night after you wash your face again before bed. Use a moisturizer that has SPF and is oil free.
4. SPF!: The products that you put on your face should contain at least an SPF 15. I use a moisturizer that is SPF 15 AND my foundation is an SPF 15 as well. Whatever you can do to help shield yourself from the elements is best.

Remember that your skin is one of the FIRST things people see when meeting you etc. Take care of one of the most beautiful things you are given as a woman. The more attention you give it, the longer you'll LOVE the way it looks. Happy Winter! Only 6 more months till summer! :| :)
