Ways to Wear: The Tulle Skirt

My mom keeps telling me that the styles from when she was a young girl are
back and she wishes that she would've just kept her whole closet
for us girls to hand them down. She's right. 100% correct, in fact.

It's become more and more apparent in the last two years or so that fashion really does cycle through the decades, and lately at an even rapider rate. It's so nice to know that I now have an excuse for being such a pack-rat: "I have to keep that! It's my favorite and it'll be back in style in ten years anyway."

One of the first explosions this summer was from the 1960s. Neon, neon, neon. Whether or not it's for you, it's still obvious on the street. (Get it? ;)) We've also seen a bit of the 1970s this summer with daisies EVERYWHERE! I will never argue with floral prints, I love them, and they're a staple in modern-day fashion. We're now seeing the 1980s-90s make their debut. I'll be honest - these decades weren't necessarily my favorite. The 80s remind me of bad hair and worse music (sorry brother) and the 90s just bring back awful memories of a little brace-face Becky running around with scraped knees and stirrup pants. Stirrup pants, eek. Throw them all away.

You'll find now, though, that your hair-metal band tee is way back. Extra points if it's already a cropped-top, too! And then there's something else...
something that makes me very happy. The tulle skirt. I just LOVE them.
Dress them up, dress them down - but please just don't write them off on account of not knowing how to pair them! Your adorable tulle skirt doesn't mean you have only the option of t-shirt or crop-top.
Let's look at ways to wear a tulle skirt:

Start casual:

Here it is. The cropped-top. This one, so fittingly exclaims
to the streets that you are likely JUST of legal drinking age (though I suppose we're closer to half-way through the 90s now and you'd be 21. YIKES!). But hey, I was born just past the New Year and so I will proudly claim myself as a 90s baby. Nevertheless, this is an easy, fun & casual way to rock this look.
Pair this look with chunky style boots for a BA look or just some flats or strappy sandals for summer.

If you're feeling basic, just stick to a v-neck t shirt! Simple, sassy & put together.
Pair this look with flats or little sneakers for simplicity. Finish the look with some easy bangles.

But...you can Dress it Up, too!

Show-stopper for SURE if you pair a tulle skirt with a peplum top. A peplum does exactly what you need to dress up! It will bring you in at your smallest area and help take away some of the bulk that can come from the layers of tulle. Finish this look with strappy wedges or some heels and a belt at your waist to really sinch in that tiny waist you have. I LOVE this look for summer.

And, finally, a look that is entirely appropriate for the office or a business meeting or anything of that nature. Black isn't the only color to look professional in! Here I've paired our skirt with a tucked-in button up ivory top and finished the look with a floral jacket. Flats will be great with this. Or wedges if you need a little height. Finish this with a statement necklace and you're good to go!
