Ways to Wear: High-Waisted Skirt

I encourage you to embrace the look of high-waisted skirts.
They are so flattering for many different body shapes and one of the most versatile articles of clothing in my closet. With one black basic high-waisted skirt and one colored, there is an endless amount of possibilities. This video is a great starting point for your outfits. She has chosen a basic black skirt and worked around that in ways that easily take her outfit from day to night.

Break it down now! Here are some tips according to your body shape. Personally, I've been focusing on bettering my knowledge of dressing my best based on my shape...so, let's keep the trend going!

Here are some things to think about if you're rectangular. You don't have many curves, you're likely quite petite and/or athletic. Petite is still very pretty! Show off your killer legs and small frame with a mini skirt. High-waisted and with a crop top by day. High-waisted and with a billowy chiffon top at night to create some more bulk on the upper half of your body. Killer heels and some statement accessories (big bag or jewelry) will finish off your look.

Helloooooo hourglass! You have to embrace  you beautiful curves and not hide the shape. Enter, the pencil skirt. It is the perfect piece to accentuate your body without being too revealing. While they come in so many different lengths, the best one is a knee length pencil skirt, because it’s perfect to show off just enough leg. Make sure you wear a pencil skirt that perfectly fits your body from your wait and to your knees, because it’s really good to show off your killer curves. Bringing it up to your natural waist (high-waisted) will only help you in the quest to keep that tiny waist showing!

The last two for body types are pear and apple. Pear shaped body is when your hips are larger than your bust. That means that the widest part of your body is below your waist and around your hips. Your goal is to elongate your body shape so that your bottom part of the body look less heavy. Draw eyes towards your waist and not your hips, by choosing a high-waisted skirt. Perfect! Always wear something darker on the bottom. You need to keep it simple for the bottom and just play around with colors and textures on your upper half.
The opposite of pear shaped is apple shaped body. If your bust are bigger than your hips, then you have the apple body type. With this shape, you will want to emphasize your small legs, so you need to wear full volume or flared skirt. Try a high-waisted tulle skirt to balance things out and finish off your look with a belt to accentuate the smallest part of your body! Find a skirt that cinches at your waist and flounces outwards. A little high-waisted skater style skirt would be adorable also!
