Ways to Wear: The Leather Jacket

Put simply, I believe that every woman should own at least one leather jacket. I consider this to be a closet staple and its versatility will likely put you on the same page as me. A leather jacket is, most commonly, viewed as being casual but there are plenty of ways to dress it up as well. Lets break down a couple of them:

Chelsea's Boutique: $54.95

Currently, here at Chelsea's, we have four different options for 'leather' jackets. I love this camel colored one (pictured above) and then we have two with knitted detail (pictured below) & a final basic black leather jacket.

Chelsea's Boutique: $59.95 & $54.95 respectively
Now that the seasons seem to finally be changing for good, you'll find your leather jacket to be one of your dearest style friends. I throw mine on whenever I need just one extra layer in transition seasons but don't need to be quite as heavy as my winter coat. One of my favorite looks to wear is: my leather jacket, a long tunic sweater, a chunky scarf, a pair of legging and tall boots. Actually, I'm pretty guilty of wearing this look everyday in the fall (sorry-not-sorry).

You simply can't go wrong with this. My favorite part is that she's mixed her neutrals. Don't be afraid of wearing black and camel. The leggings mirror the jacket and the ankle booties are in a similar color family as her chunky sweater. Bonus points for the fact that it has toggle buttons. :)

In need of some denim? Maybe a pattern? A little striped shirt and some jeans will keep your outfit light and casual. Perfect for your day-to-day. One of my personal favorite accessories is a hat! The patterned leggings give some interest to her outfit and I would top that look off with a brightly colored scarf or statement necklace to kick it up to the next level and bring some life to the dark tones.

Most days, I wish I could just traipse around in leggings all day. Sometimes, though, we just have to look a little more polished. An easy way to transform a leather jacket into something a bit dressier is by adding a skater-style dress or skirt with tucked in shirt, some tights and heels. Why the skater-style dress? The shape of that specific style is flattering on most women and will also create a waistline underneath the somewhat boxy shape your jacket may give you.
Another trick is lace lace lace! There is no better way to make something look more feminine and polished than the addition of lace. My fav. This would be beautiful with a pair of fall-colored skinny jeans or slacks - burgundy, mustard or teal - to die for. Finish both looks with heels and a statement necklace to add a pop of color.

The boutique is finally full with new fall fashions. They're flying off the shelves quickly! You have to stop down and pick up what you need to round out your closet. What's your FAVORITE fall piece?
