Ways to Wear: Boot Socks & Leg Warmers

Fall in love with this ongoing trend. Boot socks have proven to be one of the most versatile and adorable accessories of the colder months. We love them at the boutique and you'll likely see a pair on Chelsea and myself from now until April.
But, how do you wear them?
Do I scrunch them? Can I wear them high AND low?
How can I be sure my boots will work with my socks?
Let's explore some options:
(...my legs were not harmed in the process of this shoot. some of the photos may suggest that I have 6inch long legs :) which I suppose is quite close to accurate anyway.)

Casual and comfy. Denim, stripes and a little sparkle. This outfit is great for your day-to-day errands and running around. With a shorter boot, we chose a pair of tall socks that we scrunched down a bit. I love how the sweater top of the boot mirrors the sweater pattern on of the sock. We're picking up the burgundy color of the hat with the color of the socks as well. Finish with a little sparkle from the necklace and you're good to go.

My favorite part of this next outfit is the use of color. Mustard, navy, emerald and taupe - wonderful. This is a great example of the use of over-the-knee boot socks. I suggest wearing a color of boot that is opposite (in shade) as the boots. So, here, LIGHT chestnut boots and DARK emerald socks. This way, the contrast highlights both items!

Pretty in patterns. You'll most-commonly find me in a pair of socks that has a lace top. I think these are just adorable and add a great feminine touch to any outfit. Mid-calf boots = mid-calf boot socks. We've again scrunched them down just a bit for that great 'layered' look which is mirrored with the over-sized G'Pa cardigan and chunky scarf.

Who said tall socks were made only to be worn with tall shoes? Legwarmers are just as trendy as their full-footed sock. If you're in the market for an outfit that's more office appropriate, this is a great option for you. Keeping things light and neutral is always an easy way to look put together. This matte rust color on top is great with an orange and brown sock/legwarmer. These will be so practical for the colder months - when you still want to wear those adorable flats. Throw them over jeans OR a pair of tights!

Fall means that a lot of you are in school. Here's a great option for your snuggly study sessions in the student center. Or for movie night with that special someone you want to look effortless in front of. ;) There is nothing better than fleece-lined leggings and they'll work well as an extra layer to wear along with your warmers. A chunky scarf and a hot cup-o'-Joe finishes off this great look.
