Tidbits: Cute Hairstyles for Short Hair
My hair is just at my shoulders and sometimes I feel like I run out of ideas for adorable styling. Here are some tips if you feel the same way!
Twist and pin. This style is great for hair with a little natural wave. Work with your natural shape and just twist back the very fronts of your back. Pictured here, there were a few strands added in along the way which will help keep your twist nice and tight all the way around the back of your head.
This may be my personal favorite. My hair has a LOT of curl to it and is very thick. Why do I love it so much? By working with natural volume (or adding in curls) on the top crown of your head you're helping to spread out a lot of the bulk. The twists here are much thicker than the last style and will actually hold your hair in place. All day wear.
Light bangs and simple waves away from your face. Both of these things together look wonderful with a little bob - especially one that doesn't have a lot of layering.
Braid, pin and tuck. Pull your hair back into two sections, as if you're going to make piggy-tails, braid them and then just wrap them together. Use clear holders to make them less noticeable and pins that match your hair. Tease the hair on the back of your head a bit when secure to keep it from looking like it's plastered down.
French braid tuck. French braid your hair with thick pieces right at the back of your head. braid most of the way and then add a chunk of bangs from the front of your face. This will create that sleek swoop look pictured. Secure with a small elastic and then pull the braid loops out a bit to make the braid appear looser. Tuck the end of the braid up into the nape of your neck and secure it with a few bobby pins.
When all else fails...insert adorable top-knot. Just because all of your hair won't fit up doesn't mean this is not an option for you!
Tips: Hairspray your bobby pins before inserting them into your hair. This will make them extra sticky and will create a better hold. With short hair, you have a lot of loose pieces drop. To help avoid this, use a little bit moose when blow-drying, add some dry shampoo before you style and finish with hairspray. The mixture of product will make your hair a bit 'stickier' and will ensure a longer lasting style.
