Style Transitioning!

I read a weather article today that was posted out of Southwest Minnesota and the first line said, "Winter as we know it will be over as of Friday, March 6th." I'd like to contact the meteorologist that wrote this and ask them where they find all of their courage. What a bold statement. Arguing? No, not here. I've never wanted someone's prediction to be more correct.

It's time, then, according to the weather-man, to begin thinking about transitioning outfits from winter into spring! Yay! Maybe if we continue to talk about spring, her beautiful face will feel absolutely obligated to show itself. With these few simple guidelines, bring your closet along for the ride:

1.) The most obvious, perhaps. Also one of my favs. Layer, layer, layer. Us South Dakotans know all too well that the sunshine makes a huge difference from morning to night during the next couple of months. Leave the house at 8am with jackets and scarves. Strip the layers as the day goes on and by the time you're leaving work for the day, you're ready for the cold air that will hit you as you leave the office. Pick up a new trench in a spring color! Switch your heavy knit scarves for more lightweight cotton ones, etc. You know what to do.

2.) Don't be afraid to mix your seasons. Yes. It doesn't have to be quite time to put away your winter tights and socks just quite yet. Your spring/summer dresses and skirts will still wear them well! Break out that adorable tank dress but wear it with a chunky cardigan from your winter wardrobe. Go ahead and throw a belt around your waist to help with the bulk of the sweater against the delicate lighter fabrics of warm-weather.

3.) Accessories will likely be your closest friends until May. Remember that ice storm in April? Yeah...me too. Scarves, mittens and socks should still hold their place in your drawers. Mix in some brighter, lighter colors if you're sick of wearing the dark colors of the colder season. Scrunch down your boot sock and wear it with ankle booties to keep your feet warm but not feel so bundled up. Advocate of glittens? I sure am. Gloves that can be unfolded into mittens - how could you not love this concept? The possibilities are endless with this one!
